HOT ROD MUSIC

It was a busy week here in the Spy Vibe lair! My students had their annual art show on Thursday, so the whole week leading up was filled with editing, printing, matting, making labels, hanging work, as well as preparing student films for screening. We set up the first floor of our school as an exhibit space and my media art kids did great! I always have them go through extra revisions as they approach a show and the effort really pays off. A highlight I always look forward to is seeing about forty portfolio books- nice hardcovers with slipcases- laid out elegantly in a room. The aim is to support every student to find their own aesthetic path, so no two book are alike in the end. I spotlight the "art of the series" and talk about how images are often stronger in the context of a cohesive idea and style. Students and viewers get a great view on the scope of possibilities within Photography as they make their way through the room. As I've been cloistered away on these projects, only one item crossed my radar to share here on Spy Vibe. Spy Viber J Kruas has put together a neat post exploring the subculture of Hot Rod music in the 1960s. Get in gear and check out the action over at Auto Universum. Enjoy!
